BNSF's Peoria Branch
Coal Corridor

BN 9559 West

BN 9559 leads the E-PEECNW (an empty coal train running from the Edwards Generating Station in Peoria back to the Crown II Mine in southern Illinois) over the jointed rail west of Yates City, IL in July of 2001.

BN 7818 West

BN 7818 leads an Oakway SD60 and a train of empty CWEX coal hoppers on the E-PEPDKM as they head back to the Powder River just east of Yates City, IL.  Notice the sun reflecting off the insides of the aluminum hoppers as they traverse the rolling profile of Peoria Sub.  The middle of the train is crossing the IL Rt. 78 bridge.  Here, between Elmwood and Yates City, a fairly steep westbound grade must be tackled.
